About Us

Welcome to Tula + Tye, an independent unisex loungewear brand with sustainability at its core.

Meet the Founder

Hello! I'm Krisha and I launched Tula + Tye during the first 2020 lockdown, as I searched for eco-friendly and ethically-made loungewear, and realised that there was very little out there that was affordable and on-trend. With a need to fill this gap, and parents rooted in the textiles industry, I was inspired to learn about different fabrics, dyes and processes, leading me to create Tula + Tye.

As the world becomes more and more aware of the impact of fashion on the environment, I wanted to ensure that each piece holds strong values to protect both people and the planet. I hope you love the conscious, colourful and comfortable loungewear, and that you feel great wearing it!

Our purpose

Tūla means ‘cotton’ in Sanskrit; one of the most important commodities in the world. As a natural fibre, cotton is sustainable and renewable, but in recent years, the quantity needed to support the fast fashion industry has meant huge amounts of water consumption and chemical usage have become part of the process.

At Tula + Tye we believe that the future of fashion can be sustainable and ethical, as well as socially and environmentally responsible. One day, we hope that this will be the new normal, but for now, we’re leading the way by bringing you our collection of inclusive and conscious unisex clothing.

5% of all Tula + Tye profits are donated to The Ocean Cleanup; a non-profit organisation developing technologies to clean up waste and rid our oceans of plastic pollution.

Our process

As of May 2022, all new Tula + Tye collections are ethically-made within three square-miles in the UK using a new hyperlocal production process; Three-Mile Threads.

We make our loungewear using high-quality sustainable materials from a mixture of pre- and post-consumer textile waste (e.g. factory offcuts) that has been recycled into cotton, combined with recycled plastic bottles that have been transformed into polyester.

These are hand-dyed using water-based eco-friendly pigments that are non-toxic for both humans and the environment - some of our dyes are even obtained from local factories who were prepared to let them go to waste.

Our labels, tags and packaging are all made from organic and recycled materials and are recyclable or reusable, plus our mailing bags are biodegradable.

To minimise waste, we make everything in small quantities, but you can email us to enquire about restocks and custom pieces and we'll see how we can help!

Our suppliers

We have carefully chosen to work with suppliers who share our values and have a strong commitment to both people and the planet.

All our suppliers are all certified by one or more of the following bodies:

GOTS, Global Recycle Standard, Recycled Claim Standard, Organic Content Standard, Oeko-Tex Standard 100, the Fair Wear Foundation, Sedex and REACH.

Our dyes are approved by the Soil Association and Oeko-Tex Eco Passport.
